Job Summary

"Senior Sheet Metal Design Engineer

Role Summary
Lead the design and development of sheet metal components and assemblies for automotive cabin structures, ensuring compliance with performance, manufacturing, quality, and cost targets. The role includes concept development, detailed CAD design, engineering releases, and cross functional collaboration throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Design and develop cabin BIW sheet metal components and assemblies.
Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and production drawings using NX/CATIA V5 / 3DX.
Apply stamping and manufacturing guidelines during product development.
Perform packaging studies, interface management, and tolerance analysis.
Support design reviews and manufacturability assessments.
Coordinate with CAE teams for crash, durability, and NVH requirements.
Manage engineering changes, issue resolution, and release documentation.
Support prototype builds, manufacturing trials, and production launch activities.
Ensure compliance with OEM standards, GD&T requirements, and quality processes.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers."
"Strong expertise in automotive sheet metal design for cabin BIW and closures.
Hands on experience in NX/CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE for sheet metal and assembly design.
Good understanding of stamping, forming, welding, hemming, and joining processes.
Experience in designing structural and non structural BIW components.
Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack up, and body manufacturing requirements.
Familiarity with spot welds, MIG welds, clinching, riveting, adhesive bonding, and fastening methods.
Experience in section creation, drawing release, and BOM management.
Understanding of vehicle crash, durability, NVH, and manufacturability considerations.
Experience with engineering release processes and change management systems.
Ability to collaborate with CAE, manufacturing, tooling, and vehicle integration teams.
Truck cabin BIW experience preferred; passenger car BIW experience is also acceptable.
8‿10 years of relevant automotive sheet metal design experience."
